The Bleisure Best at Bahia Resort Hotel

Bahia Resort Hotel — sitting on its own 14-acre peninsula in Mission Bay — gives you every reason to be outside enjoying the weather (and waters) of San Diego, California.
The property is casual in the best way. No grand lobby theater, no performative luxury. Just lush tropical gardens, a private stretch of bay beach, and that particular San Diego light that makes everything look a little too good. My room had a balcony by the water. I used it more than I used my desk.
On the Water
Mission Bay is the world's largest man-made aquatic park, and the Bahia sits right in the middle of it. Kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats, sailboats — all available through the resort's Action Sport Rentals. I stuck to watching and walking the waterfront, plus a spin on the motorboat. There's something about being out on that water, with the city behind you, that resets you.

Where to Eat
Breakfast at Dockside 1953 became the routine I didn't plan for. Bay views, warm service, and food that didn't feel like an afterthought. The kind of morning meal that makes you slow down before a full day of zoom calls and water activities.
Dinner pulled me to Bianchi Pizza & Pasta — the Italian spot on the property. Ask for Alex. She's the kind of server who makes you feel like the restaurant has been expecting you. Attentive without hovering, genuinely warm.
The Bleisure Case
The Bahia isn't trying to be a business hotel, and it shows — in the best way. No sterile conference-room energy here. Every conference room I went into had a Bay view. Belmont Park is half a block away. Mission Beach is one block. You can be in the middle of a workday and step outside to grab some sunshine, a walk on the boardwalk, or a quick snack on the bayfront.
If your next work trip takes you to San Diego, book an extra night at The Bahia Resort Hotel.
