A day at Grand Hotel doesn't move like a day anywhere else — longer, but slower; fuller, but more peaceful. The day divides itself into hours that each get their own pace: a porch hour, a pool hour, a Secret Garden hour, an evening of live music and dancing. No cars on the island, just bikes and horse-drawn carriages, and a rhythm that makes three days feel like far too short a stay. What a difference a day makes when it's built like this.

The JW Marriott Grand Rapids sits right on the water in a downtown you can actually walk. The valet, front desk, and Executive Level staff all brought the same warmth, start to finish. Dinner at Margaux was a highlight on its own.
